M&A and Governance

Intensive program will help directors oversee strategy, risk and value creation throughout the M&A lifecycle

MONTREAL, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Club M&A Canada announced registration for its M&A and Governance program, designed for board members involved in acquisitions, divestitures, business growth and ownership transitions.

The one-day program will take place on October 28, 2026, at Blakes in Montreal. It focuses on the board’s responsibilities throughout the M&A lifecycle, including strategic alignment, fiduciary duties, risk oversight, transaction supervision, integration and post-transaction value creation.

The program is led by Sophie-Emmanuelle Chebin, President and Co-Founder of Arsenal, and brings together experienced practitioners from Blakes, KPMG and NATIONAL.

Faculty includes Hubert T. Lacroix, Angelo Noce and Louis Morisset of Blakes, Jan-Fryderyk Pleszczynski of KPMG, and Mirabel Paquette and Larry Markowitz of NATIONAL, along with experienced board members and investment professionals participating in panel discussions.

The program comes as Quebec faces a significant wave of business ownership transitions. An August 2026 study from Repreneuriat Québec estimates that 38,000 Quebec businesses will be seeking succession by 2029.

“A board cannot simply be informed at the end of a transaction,” said Ugo Dionne, President of Club M&A Canada. “Directors play a central role in assessing strategy, risk and value creation. This program is designed to give them practical frameworks to exercise that responsibility effectively.”

The program is intended for directors of private, family-owned and institutional companies, advisory board members and independent directors preparing for M&A-related mandates. Applications will be pre-screened to ensure a strong level of participant experience.
