Lee Baron and Nike Bring 300 Runners Together for Closing Light Community Run in Huntsville

Sunset running event connected local runners through movement, music, Nike Vomero sneakers, customization and community experiences

HUNTSVILLE, TX, UNITED STATES, September 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- HUNTSVILLE, Texas - September 2nd, 2026 - Three hundred runners came together in Huntsville on August 14 for Closing Light, a community-focused sunset run hosted by Lee Baron in partnership with Nike.

Beginning at Lee Baron's location at 1524 11th Street, the event brought local runners together for an evening centered on movement, connection and the growing running culture in Huntsville.

Closing Light was created around the introduction of the Nike Vomero Pack, including the Nike Vomero Plus and Vomero Premium sneakers, but the evening was designed to extend beyond a traditional product launch

Runners were invited to experience the shoes in a community setting while participating in a group run, meeting other members of the local running community, enjoying live music, and taking part in interactive activations throughout the evening.

The event began at 7:30 PM with check-in, Nike Vomero product education, and live T-shirt customization. The Nike EKIN team spoke with participants about the Vomero Plus and Vomero Premium before the group gathered for a welcome stretch and route overview.

At 8:30 PM, 300 runners headed out together for the Closing Light route through Huntsville.

Timed around the transition from sunset to nightfall, the run reflected the creative concept behind the event and gave participants an opportunity to experience the city together as the evening light changed.

Guest speaker Terry Williams, M.Ed., CSCS, joined the event to share insights around cadence, recovery, and purpose.

Music was provided by Thomas the Square, who helped carry the energy of the event from the pre-run gathering through the runners' return.

Following the run, participants gathered back at Lee Baron for recovery smoothies powered by Smoothie King, community connection and Nike x Lee Baron giveaways.

Event experiences included:
A community run with 300 participants
Nike Vomero Plus and Vomero Premium sneaker education
165 customized Nike T-shirts
Recovery smoothies powered by Smoothie King
200 towel and water bottle giveaways
Live music from Thomas the Square
A sunset-inspired digital photo experience
Guest remarks from Terry Williams, M.Ed., CSCS
Participation from Nike Run Club, FASS Run Club and ACE Run Club
The event was designed to bring together runners from different parts of Huntsville and create an experience where running could serve as a starting point for broader community connection.

Closing Light also reflects Lee Baron's continued effort to create experiences beyond the traditional walls of a sneaker boutique.

By bringing together Nike, local run clubs, community partners and hundreds of runners, the event connected sneaker culture with an active and growing local running community.

For participants, the evening was less about competition and more about showing up together.

As the sun disappeared over Huntsville, runners of different backgrounds and experience levels shared the same route, the same music and the same final miles of daylight.
