Canadian OSINT Centre Partners with Canadian Police Knowledge Network to Proctor OSINT Certification Exams

New partnership reinforces rigorous certification standards and strengthens credibility and defensibility in Canadian OSINT investigations.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, March 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Canadian Centre for Open-Source Intelligence has announced a strategic partnership with eProctor Canada, a division of the Canadian Police Knowledge Network, to provide secure, remote proctoring for its online OSINT Certification examinations. This partnership marks a milestone in the professionalization of open-source intelligence investigations in Canada.

Open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysts and investigators play an increasingly critical role in modern investigations, leveraging publicly available data to support law enforcement, legal proceedings, corporate risk assessments, and national security efforts. Despite its widespread use, OSINT has not yet been formally recognized as a regulated professional discipline or designation; a gap that can limit the admissibility, credibility, and courtroom defensibility of OSINT-derived findings.

This partnership directly addresses that challenge by implementing a vetted examination process and marks a meaningful step toward establishing standardized, verifiable, and professionally governed credentials for OSINT practitioners.

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing the integrity and professionalism of the OSINT industry in Canada and marks a significant milestone in our goal to offer officially recognized professional certifications and designations to Canadian OSINT professionals”, said Julie Jones, CEO and founder of the Canadian OSINT Centre.

Historically, the absence of a formal professional designation has meant that OSINT analysts may face challenges being recognized as expert witnesses or having their findings fully accepted in court. The introduction of live-proctored examinations reinforces the rigor, accountability, and integrity of OSINT certification, aligning it more closely with established investigative and forensic disciplines.

“We are excited to partner with the Canadian OSINT Centre to strengthen professionalism and build trust in public safety," said Krystine Richards, Vice President of Operations, CPKN. "Supporting professionals in achieving and maintaining their certifications reinforces standards and advances excellence in the field. We are honoured to be entrusted as the partner of choice in that work

The partnership signals growing institutional recognition of OSINT as a specialized discipline and lays important groundwork toward future professional designation, governance, and broader adoption across public- and private-sector investigations.

The Canadian OSINT Centre remains committed to advancing best practices, ethical standards, and professional recognition for OSINT practitioners across Canada and beyond.
