No signs of life are found under rubbles in Indonesia school collapse
(MENAFN) The rescuers have stated that there are "no signs of life" under the rubble of a crumpled Indonesian school where 59 people are still missing.
Officials stated that, on Monday, an Islamic boarding school in the town of Sidoarjo collapsed while hundreds of students, mostly teenage boys, were on the premises. The disaster tragically ended at least five lives and wounded around 100.
Rescue workers pulled thirteen people from under the rubble; however, two of them subsequently passed away in the hospital. The campaigns were difficult as the building's structure was unstable.
The disaster mitigation agency (BNBP) announced on Thursday that rescuers, using thermal drones, were unable to find any signs of life in the wreckage.
The chief of the BNBP, Lt Gen Suharyanto, stated at a news conference on Thursday afternoon that "last night, we even [cleared] the area to ensure silence. [We] hoped that with the use of sophisticated equipment... we might hear some signs of life."
