Egypt verifies organizing fresh round of talks between Hamas, Israel

(MENAFN) Egypt verified on Saturday that it will host a new phase of mediator discussions between Israel and Hamas on Sunday. These negotiations will focus on the details of a inmate swap as part of a plan put forward by US President Donald Trump to halt the war in the Gaza Strip.

In an announcement made by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry that the negotiations are part of “ongoing Egyptian efforts, in coordination with mediators, to end the Israeli war in Gaza.”

It further stated that the mediator discussions will focus on “the field conditions and details of the exchange process for all Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners, in line with President Trump’s proposal, in the hope of putting an end to the war and the suffering of the Palestinian people, which has continued for two years.”

The ministry indicated that the discussions will take place “within the framework of efforts to build on the regional and international momentum created by President Trump’s plan to stop the war in Gaza.”
