Mandela Foundation denounces Israeli interception of Flotilla’s ships
The association stated that” the Nelson Mandela Foundation notes with deep concern the reports that Israeli forces have intercepted boats carrying activists from many countries and humanitarian aid bound for Gaza.”
According to a news agency, the activists detained by Israeli forces outside Israeli territorial waters are expected to be moved to Ketziot prison. This Negev Desert facility is notorious for long-standing accusations of abuse and torture against Palestinian prisoners.
The organization added that” as an organisation mandated to mobilise Madiba’s legacy for the creation of just societies, both in South Africa and globally, we cannot remain silent when humanitarian initiatives are obstructed and when those working to advance human dignity are detained.”
