Mark Ruffalo Describes Gaza Famine as “Man-Made Disaster”

(MENAFN) American actor Mark Ruffalo has issued a strong condemnation of the famine currently gripping Gaza, labeling it a "man-made disaster" and imploring international authorities to step in and help bring an end to Israel’s ongoing military operations.

In a video shared on Instagram, Ruffalo expressed his distress over the humanitarian situation, calling it a calculated act rather than a natural occurrence.

“This is not a natural disaster. It's not a drought. This is a man-made disaster. It's a man-made criminal act to kill civilian populations, and it's being perpetrated by Israel and the IDF,” Ruffalo stated, highlighting the intentional nature of the crisis.

He pleaded with the global community to act urgently: “Don't let Gaza starve. Speak up. Don't stop until there's a just and lasting peace. Yes, we must stop this. We must bring the hostages home, and we must stop the killing of the children.”

Ruffalo noted that the vast majority of those killed have been non-combatants, describing the situation as “insane.”

Known for his roles in blockbuster and award-nominated films like The Avengers, Ruffalo also directed his message at international leaders, including US President Donald Trump, urging them to take decisive measures.

“You say you care about starving people. You say you want to stop the war. Do something,” he implored. “Germany, do something. Europe, do something. UK, do something. We're going to sit here and watch this happen? It's insane. It's heartbreaking.”

According to reports, over 62,700 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.

The ongoing military offensive by Israel has left the region in ruins and teetering on the edge of full-scale famine.
